Ohio movie fans may be interested in learning that actor Vince Vaughn was officially charged with DUI on September 7. The 48-year-old actor faced charges after an alleged drunk driving incident that occurred on June 10.
Vaughn was reportedly stopped at a routine sobriety checkpoint at about 12:40 a.m. on June 10 in Manhattan Beach, California, at the intersection of Prospect Avenue and Artesia Boulevard. During the incident, it was reported that he was repeatedly asked to leave his vehicle, but he continued to refuse. He was eventually taken into police custody. He was ultimately released after he posted bail.
Vaughn was ultimately slapped with misdemeanor charges that included driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage with a blood alcohol content of at least .08 percent and refusing to comply with a police officer. He also refused to submit to an inspection. If Vaughn is convicted of the charges, he could face a maximum of 360 days in county jail. At the time the report was released, Vaughn's spokesperson declined to comment on the situation.
In Ohio, individuals who are convicted of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol could face serious repercussions. In many cases, the consequences could include a one-year license suspension even for a first offense. If a person is convicted of a second drunk driving charge, he or she could have his or her license suspended for up to seven years in addition to dealing with other potential consequences, such as a jail sentence. A criminal law attorney may challenge evidence that was collected at the time of the alleged incident, including field drug and sobriety tests that potentially may be inaccurate or were not properly conducted.
